Measurements of slit-width effects in Young’s double-slit experiment for a partially-coherent source: erratum

We report here two inadvertent errors that appear in our original paper [1]. In Eq. (6), the constant factor in front of the expression should read $s\ell /ka^2$ (instead of $s^2/ka^2$). Equation (6) is only valid up to an overall constant, so this error has no bearing on the normalized expression used to calculate our results. In addition, we inadvertently left out two factors of $1/2$ in Eq. (8), which should read

$$I_\textrm{s}(x) \equiv \tilde{d}\,\mathrm{Si}(\tilde{d}x) - \tilde{a}\,\mathrm{Si}(\tilde{a}x) - \frac{1}{2}(\tilde{d}-\tilde{a})\,\mathrm{Si}\left[(\tilde{d}-\tilde{a})x\right] - \frac{1}{2}(\tilde{d}+\tilde{a})\,\mathrm{Si}\left[(\tilde{d}+\tilde{a})x\right].$$

The correct expressions were used for all calculations in our original paper, so none of our results are affected.

We regret these oversights and thank Professor John Sharpe for bringing this issue to our attention.
