Abstract
We report the generation of tunable light pulses with durations as short as 65 fs by pulsed synchronous pumping of a singly resonant optical parametric oscillator. The measured wavelength dependence of the pulse duration provides evidence for self-compression by means of chirp reversal of the idler pulses and normal dispersion of the optical parametric oscillator cavity elements.
