Abstract
The high-dispersion absorption spectrum of Mn i is reported for the 1305 to 2040 Å region. Observations include dipole-allowed transitions from 3d5 4s2 6S5/2 to 3d5 4s (7S)n p 6Po (n = 6–41), 3d5 4s (7S)n p 8P0(n = 6–22), 3d5 4s (5S)n p 6P0(n = 5–55), 3d6(5D4)n p (n = 5–31), 3d6(5D3)n p (n = 5–33), 3d6(5D2)n p (n = 5–26), 3d6(5D1)n p (n = 5–26), and 3d6(5D0)n p (n = 5–18), and the electric quadrupole transition 3d5 4s2 6S5/2 to 3d5 4s (5S)4d g 7D9/2–1/2. The ionization energy for Mn i determined from these data is 59959.40 ± 0.10 cm−1 which is 22 cm−1 below the previously recommended value.
