Abstract
Collision-induced far-infrared translational absorption in equimolar helium-argon mixtures and translational-rotational absorption in nitrogen are reported for pressures up to 7 kbar. For both systems, the results reveal small but significant contributions to the absorption at high densities from both ternary and quaternary collisions, as well as from binary collisions.
