Abstract
A four-channel photon counting system has been constructed for the measurement of Raman difference spectra. In this work we will describe the applications and advantages of such a system. Specifically, the simultaneous measurement of the parallel and perpendicular polarized compounds of the Raman spectra of both benzene and a mixture of benzene and benzened<sub>6</sub> will be discussed. Spectra of two different mixtures of benzene and carbon disulfide and of the pure components were also recorded simultaneously using the four separate channels of the photon counting system. For both sets of data the solvent-induced frequency shifts were determined with very high accuracy.
