Abstract
In recent years the high resolution of tunable diode laser spectrometers has enabled Doppler-limited spectra to be measured without distortion. Several investigators have also accurately measured the intensity and width of collision-broadened lines with this type of instrument. In our laboratory, we are attempting to determine the temperature dependence of the line parameters of the 9.4 and 10.4 μm "hot bands" of CO2 under conditions of self-broadening and foreign gas broadening. A Laser Analytics model LS-3 tunable diode laser spectrometer has been modified to allow a straight, heatable 1-m path length gas cell to be used for this purpose.
