After publication of our paper [Appl. Opt. 56, 1775 (2017) [CrossRef] ] [1], it has come to the authors’ attention that related ideas on using guided mode resonances for biochemical sensing of single and multiple parameters have been reported earlier [2–6]. Specifically, resonant modes corresponding to different polarization states have been used to detect refractive index and biolayer thickness variations [4–6]. These related papers should be properly cited and credited.
