By implementing the proposed fast three-step phase-shifting algorithmin in our high resolution, real-time 3-D shape-measurement system, we were able to realize simultaneous 3-D shape aquisition, reconstruction, and display at a speed of 40 frames/s and a resolution of 532 x 500 pixels, all with an ordinary personal computer. This figure shows one frame of a video sequence recorded during our experiments. The left part of the image shows a human subject, while the right part of the image shows the reconstructed 3-D shape of her face generated by our system in real time.
