Abstract
Tree shape optical phenomena erupting from the anode of high density nanosecond spark discharges were studied by means of time resolved photography and identified as explosive erosion jets of electrode material by spectroscopy. The mechanism of the explosive erosion is explained. Thermalization with longer pulse duration is observed.
