Abstract
A McPherson 225 vacuum uv spectrometer has been interfaced with an IBM 1130 computer. The electronic interface, consisting mainly of integrated circuits, translates computer commands for a dc synchronous stepping motor which controls the grating position. Intensity information is recorded in digital form on a magnetic disk and may be plotted on a Calcomp plotter. A strip chart recorder is operated simultaneously. Reproducibility of the grating position as determined with a mercury source is within 0.03 Å on the average.
