Abstract
We consider a Mach-Zehnder interferometer with a Bragg grating in one arm, and model the resulting nonlinear switch in time-dependent simulations. Compared with a pure Mach-Zehnder device the switching threshold is significantly reduced; compared with a gap soliton switch a reasonable operating bandwidth and low pulse distortion is achieved.
