Abstract
We consider the production of squeezed light by hyper-Raman scattering (HRS) and show that initially coherent pump light acquires some squeezing after passage through the hyper-Raman active medium. The short time calculations in this exactly soluble model lead to much higher values of the pump squeezing parameter than those predicted in two-photon absorption (TPA) where the pump squeezing remains sufficiently small over the whole range of propagation distances.1,2
