Abstract
AgGaS2 has been one of the earliest nonlinear crystals studied for IR nonlinear optics. Its nonlinearity, wide visible and IR transmission, and not-too-large birefringence have made the crystal attractive for various nonlinear devices. After overcoming the early crystal growth problem, large size crystals with good quality have been available. 1 Discussed here are the development of a nonlinear device parametric oscillator and an upconverter and difference frequency mixing both in the nanosecond and picosecond regimes along with some relevant aspect of characterization.
