Abstract
Dye based distributed feedback (DFB) lasers [1] have gained considerable interest as tunable lasers [2] and sensors, especially bio-sensors [3,4]. They are manufactured from low-cost commercially available materials and can exhibit narrow linewidths, broad spectral tuning ranges and high sensitivities. It has been shown that high refractive index layers significantly increase the tunability of DFB lasers [2] and sensitivity of laser biosensors [4].
