Abstract
Wavelength division multiplex (WDM) technology with well-developed intensity-modulated direct-detection (IM-DD) scheme is attractive for future ultra-large capacity optical communication systems, since the advent of the optical amplifier enables to realize practical optical repeater for the WDM transmission. The latest reports showed up to one-third Tbps transmission through 150 km1, and 40 Gbps transmission over 1500 km2. In this paper, we describe the results of the transmission experiment at 10 Gbps, 8 WDM system over 1000 km.
