Abstract
High energy femtosecond pulse amplification is demonstrated in a simple and compact arrangement using periodically poled LiNbO3 (PPLN) as a parametric amplifier and employing chirped pulse amplification, A single-pass gain of 40 dB is observed for 5 mJ 0.5 ns pump pulses at 786 nm in a 5-mm-long PPLN crystal, generating 1 mJ 680 fs amplified optical pulses at 1555 nm.
