Abstract
We have recently developed a novel autostereoscopic display architecture (hereinafter referred to as the "partial pixel architecture") that provides for the realization of a flat panel display that is functionally equivalent to a holographic stereogram. Such a display would operate in real-time and allow the realization of full-color images with either 1-D or 2-D parallax. In this paper we describe the basic partial pixel architecture and its implementation using both static and dynamic diffraction gratings.
