Abstract

Absorption and stimulated emission cross section were measured for Nd:YVO4 using a self-consistent spectroscopic methodology that also provides verification of the active ion concentration in the crystal. A peak emission cross section of 11.4 × 10−19 cm2 was obtained for it polarization on the 4F3/2-4I11/2 transition..
